How to Create a Sniper Elite 4 Server — Sniper Elite 4 Server Setup Guide

This free Sniper Elite 4 server setup guide walks you through creating a dedicated Sniper Elite 4 server the fast way (with SurvivalServers) and the DIY way (self-hosted on your own hardware).

  • Click "Order Now" and your Sniper Elite 4 server is provisioned automatically, online in minutes with full control panel access

Without SurvivalServers

Running a Sniper Elite 4 dedicated server yourself takes quite a bit more setup:

System Requirements

  • Windows. Rebellion ship no Linux build of the Sniper Elite 4 dedicated server, so a Windows machine is the only option
  • Around 14GB of disk space for the server files, plus room for logs
  • A machine you are willing to leave running whenever your group wants to play
  • Modest hardware by shooter standards. An idle server sits near 270MB of memory and the 12-player cap keeps the load light, so latency to your players matters far more than raw CPU
  • A stable connection with five ports forwarded per server
  • SteamCMD for headless installs

Installation

  • Install the Sniper Elite 4 Dedicated Server via SteamCMD (App ID 568880). It installs anonymously, so you do not need a second copy of Sniper Elite 4 on Steam to run it.
  • Forward five ports per server and add matching firewall rules: the lobby port your players connect to (TCP), the update port that also answers server browser queries (UDP), the game data port (UDP), the Steam authentication port (UDP) and the remote console port (TCP). Every one of them has to be unique per instance.
  • Settings live in a plain text config file you pass to the server with -exec. It is a script of console commands rather than a key and value file, so line order matters, and every port command has to appear before the line that starts hosting or it is silently ignored.
  • The player cap has to be written before hosting starts and cannot be changed on a running server. The engine hard caps at 12 whatever number you write, and it clamps quietly with nothing in the log to tell you.
  • The map rotation is built by hand, one line per map and mode, with optional time and score limits per entry. Four of the ten maps do not support No Cross, and an unsupported pairing has to be kept out of the rotation.
  • Never launch the server from the Steam client. Rebellion document that doing so breaks client authentication, so the executable has to be started directly with its working directory set to the install root.
  • Players find you in the in-game server browser once the server has registered with Steam. Sniper Elite 4 has no direct connect field, so a server that is not answering queries is a server nobody can join.

Administration

  • Remote admin runs over Rebellion's own web console rather than Source RCON. The console address, port and password all have to be set in the config before hosting begins, and the listen command toggles, so issuing it twice turns remote admin back off.
  • Once connected, admin commands cover kick, ban by name, index or SteamID, unban, broadcast messages, map rotation control and forcing a round to start or end.

Why Wait? Use SurvivalServers Instead

  • Instant provisioning on enterprise NVMe SSD hardware with DDoS protection across 8 global datacenters
  • Your config is rebuilt from our control panel on every start, in the right order, so nothing you set can be lost or silently ignored
  • Ten maps and eight game modes, with a ready made rotation per mode, a mixed All Modes rotation, and a custom builder with per map time and score limits
  • All eight official gameplay presets, from Casual through Regular and Hardcore to Pure Sniper, plus per option overrides for bullet drop, wind, scope glint, friendly fire and more
  • Automated restarts, scheduled backups, server logs and full FTP access on day one
  • Remote console details are handed to you in the panel, so you can administer the server from anywhere
  • No SteamCMD wrangling, no port forwarding, no firewall rules, no Windows updates to babysit

Sniper Elite 4 Dedicated Server vs a Player-Hosted Match

Sniper Elite 4 multiplayer is normally a player hosted lobby, which means the match ends the moment the host quits and everyone queues again from scratch. A dedicated server keeps the lobby, the rotation and every gameplay setting alive between rounds, so your group has one address to come back to and a server that is already listed in the browser when people show up.

  • We run the official dedicated server tool from Rebellion on datacenter hardware, not somebody's gaming PC
  • Password-protect the server for a closed group, or leave it open and let anyone find it in the in-game server browser
  • A server that stays up between rounds instead of dying with the host, on hardware built to stay online
  • Console output and server logs are written to your own folder and downloadable over FTP

Sniper Elite 4 Settings, Rotations and Sizing

Configuration

Bullet drop, wind strength, scope glint, one shot kills, headshots only, friendly fire, ammo count, player health and respawn timers are all editable from our control panel. The eight gameplay presets the game ships with are there too, from Casual through Regular and Hardcore to Pure Sniper, and you can start from any of them and override single options on top. We rebuild the server config from those settings every time it starts, in the order the server requires.

Map Rotations

Sniper Elite 4 plays a rotation rather than a single map. Ten maps are available: Riviera, Compound, Railyard, Village, Fortress, Night Woods, Dockyard, Urban, Bunker and Marina. Pick a ready made rotation for one game mode, take the mixed All Modes rotation, or build your own entry by entry with a time limit and score limit on each map.

Administration

Sniper Elite 4 has a real remote console, and we enable it for you. Your control panel shows the address, port and password, and you connect with Rebellion's own web console. From there you can kick and ban by name, index or SteamID, unban, broadcast messages to everyone in the server, control the map rotation and force a round to start or end.

Sizing

Sniper Elite 4 caps a server at 12 players and the engine enforces that itself, so plans run from a small private lobby up to the full 12 slots and no higher. Eight game modes are available across the rotation: Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Distance King, Team Distance King, No Cross, Control, Capture the Flag and Elimination. Pick the datacenter closest to your group, because at sniping distances latency decides the shot.

Frequently Asked Questions about Sniper Elite 4 Server Hosting

Sniper Elite 4 caps a multiplayer server at 12 players. That is an engine limit rather than a plan limit, and the server silently clamps anything higher back down to 12, so no host can give you more. Our plans run up to the full 12 slots, and your slot count is written into the server config and applied the next time the server starts.

Yes. Rebellion ship a free standalone dedicated server tool on Steam that anyone can download, and it is what we run for you. Ordering here skips the SteamCMD install, the five ports you would otherwise forward per server, and the config script whose command order has to be right before the server will host anything.
