How to use the Sakhal map
Drag to move, and scroll or pinch to zoom. Everything else is in the panel beside the map: switch maps, change between the satellite picture and the game's paper map, find a place, and choose what the map shows.
Choose Measure a distance, then click or tap along your route: each leg and the total show in metres and kilometres. Choose Drop a pin and click the map, then name the pin and give it a colour. Share map puts the view and your pins in a link, so your group sees the same map.
How big is the Sakhal map?
Sakhal is 15.36 km on each side (236 square kilometres of world).
How do grid coordinates work on the Sakhal map?
The map is cut into 1 kilometre squares, numbered from the top left corner. A position like 067 128 means 6.7 km east and 12.8 km south of that corner. Move over the map to read the square under your pointer, or type the six digits into Find a place to jump there.
Can I put a position from my server's log on the map?
Yes. A DayZ server's admin log writes positions as pos=<x, y, height>. Paste that, or just the first two numbers, into Find a place and the map marks the spot.
Where does this map come from?
The picture and every place name come from the game files (the world's map texture and its world config, DayZ 1.29). Nothing is copied from another map site. It shows no loot: loot, events and spawns are set by each server's own files, so they differ from server to server.
Is Sakhal the Frostline map?
Yes. Sakhal is the island map that came with the DayZ Frostline DLC.
