The rule of thumb is simple: pick the location closest to the players who will be on the server most nights. Distance is what drives ping, and no amount of hardware makes up for a connection that crosses an ocean twice.
Groups spread across a region should split the difference. For players across the United States, Dallas sits in the middle; a mostly-eastern group with a few European friends does best in New York, while an all-European group should pick Germany or France. Southeast Asian groups belong in Singapore, and Miami is the closest region we operate to the Caribbean and South America.
You do not have to guess. Every city page below lists live demo servers running in that datacenter — join one in-game or ping its IP, and the number you see is the ping your own server would have. And the choice is never final: you can switch your server's location from the control panel later, and your server files move with it.
