SCUM on PS5 and Xbox: Release Date and What We Know

Is SCUM on PS5 or Xbox? Not yet. What Gamepires has said about SCUM on consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series rating, controller support and crossplay.

SCUM isn't on PS5 or Xbox yet. It's on PC only, through Steam, and Gamepires hasn't announced a console release date. Console versions have been rated, though: SCUM was rated for PS5 and Xbox Series in Taiwan in August 2024.

Is SCUM on PS5?

Not yet. Taiwan's game rating board listed SCUM for PS5 and Xbox Series on August 8, 2024, and Gematsu reported it the same day. A rating means the publisher sent that version in for review. It doesn't come with a release date, and Gamepires hasn't announced one. The rating covers PS5 only, with no PS4 version.

Is SCUM on Xbox?

Not yet either. In November 2023 a player asked the official SCUM account about Xbox, and the reply was "Coming with the 1.0 release!" SCUM 1.0 came out on June 17, 2025, but only on PC through Steam. No Xbox version shipped with it, and there's been no Xbox date since.

When is the SCUM console release date?

There isn't one yet. This is everything that's on the record:

  • December 2022: Jagex bought Gamepires, and the studio said it would use that backing to take SCUM to 1.0 and "an eventual multiplatform release" (Game Developer).
  • November 2023: the SCUM account said Xbox would come with 1.0.
  • August 2024: PS5 and Xbox Series versions were rated in Taiwan.
  • June 2025: SCUM 1.0 launched on PC only.
  • February 2026: Splash Damage bought Gamepires from Jagex, and the two studios became Splash Damage Group (Game Developer).
  • September 2026: Gamepires said it's working on controller support for PC in its next update (Steam).

Does SCUM have controller support?

Not yet. In its September 30 update preview, Gamepires said it's "working towards controller support on PC" for the update after the October one. That update also brings tattoos back and makes Photo Mode free for everyone. Gamepires didn't give it a date, and it didn't connect controller support to consoles.

Is SCUM crossplay?

No. SCUM only runs on PC today, so there's no console version to play with. Gamepires hasn't said whether PS5 or Xbox players would share servers with PC players.

Who makes SCUM now?

Gamepires, the Croatian studio that has made SCUM since the start. Jagex published it until February 2026, when Splash Damage bought Gamepires. Splash Damage is a UK studio known for its co-development work on Gears Tactics and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. SCUM sold 1 million copies in its first month of Early Access in 2018 (Game Developer). When the new owners laid out their plans in May, Splash Damage's Dominic Butler said "SCUM deserves to be seen by more players." He didn't mention consoles.

What's new in SCUM

Gamepires spent May to October 2026 on Into the Wild, a run of monthly updates about hunting, fishing and wilderness survival. Free-roaming animals came back in June. July added mutant animals, Master Hunter quests and 80-player official servers, up from 64. The October 5 update reworked fishing, added a fishing leaderboard and brought seagulls and crows back to the island.

SCUM servers

We've hosted SCUM servers since the game's first day in Early Access, August 29, 2018. If you run one, our SCUM server settings and SCUM admin commands guides cover the setup.
