Our Subsistence plans come in 10, 20, and 30 slot sizes. The game works best with smaller cooperative survival groups, which makes a 10-slot server the sweet spot for most friend groups, with room to grow into the larger plans.
Yes, Subsistence added full dedicated server support in the Alpha 54 update. The dedicated server files are freely available for game owners, and our hosting provides 24/7 uptime with better performance than self-hosting from a PC.
Subsistence has no Steam Workshop or official mod tools, so there is no real mod scene to install from. What you do get is full control of the server itself: our panel manages settings and restarts, full FTP access covers the files, and automated backups protect your world.
For a small survival group of 8-16 players, 6-8GB of RAM is typically sufficient. For larger groups or complex base builds, 12GB or more may be needed. Our plans include optimized RAM allocation for smooth performance.
Subsistence is a sandbox, first-person survival game that can be played solo or cooperatively in PvE mode. Players struggle through changing seasons to build bases, develop technology, and defend against wildlife, elements, and AI hunters who also build bases in the world.
