Subnautica does not have native multiplayer support. However, the Nitrox mod enables multiplayer functionality, allowing you to host dedicated servers where players can explore the underwater world together. Our servers are optimized for Nitrox multiplayer hosting.
Subnautica servers using the Nitrox mod can support large groups technically, though 4-16 players is recommended for the best cooperative experience. Our plans come in 10, 20, and 30 slot sizes, which covers everything from a private crew to a big community expedition.
The Nitrox mod is the primary multiplayer modification for Subnautica, and it comes preinstalled on every server here - it is what the server runs, and we keep it updated for you. Additional client-side mods may be compatible, but Nitrox is what makes multiplayer work.
Our Subnautica servers come with optimized resources including NVMe SSD storage, high-performance CPUs, and sufficient RAM to handle 4-16 player sessions smoothly. All technical requirements are handled by our infrastructure with 24/7 uptime.
Subnautica multiplayer through Nitrox is PC-only and does not support cross-platform play. Console versions (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch) cannot connect to Nitrox multiplayer servers. Only PC players using the Nitrox mod can join.
