Watch the Nightingale Trailer

Nightingale is a gaslamp fantasy survival crafting game from Inflexion Games. Step through mystical portals as a Realmwalker, craft and combine Realm Cards to shape procedurally generated Fae Realms, and build estates, hunt apex creatures and survive together. Since the Realms Rebuilt update and the 2025 dedicated server release, the game is fully playable offline and self-hosted — which is exactly why rented servers exist.

How to Create a Nightingale Server — Nightingale Server Setup Guide

This free Nightingale server setup guide walks you through creating a dedicated Nightingale server the fast way (with SurvivalServers) and the DIY way (self-hosted on your own hardware).

With SurvivalServers

Hosting your Nightingale server with us is effortless:

  • Click Order Now above
  • Enter a Username, Password and Email Address or sign up with Google/Twitch
  • Select your slot amount, datacenter, and billing cycle
  • Click "Order Now" and your Nightingale server is provisioned automatically, online in minutes with full control panel access

Without SurvivalServers

Running a Nightingale dedicated server yourself takes quite a bit more setup:

System Requirements

  • Windows or Linux. The server is a full Unreal Engine 5 build — plan on 6-8 GB of RAM per server plus a modern multi-core CPU
  • Around 11 GB of disk space for the server install, plus room for realm and character saves as they grow
  • A machine you are willing to leave running whenever anyone wants to play
  • A stable connection with the game port forwarded (default 7777 UDP, configurable)
  • SteamCMD for headless installs

Installation

  • Install the Nightingale Dedicated Server via SteamCMD (App ID 3796810). It is free and installs anonymously, so you do not need to own a second copy of the game.
  • Copy NWX\Config\ExampleServerSettings.ini to ServerSettings.ini. The whole config surface is three keys: Password, AdminPassword and StartingDifficulty.
  • Launch NWXServer.exe with -port= for the game port (the equals sign is mandatory or Unreal ignores it) and -ini:Game:[/Script/Engine.GameSession]:MaxPlayers= for the player cap — the developer supports at most 6.
  • Forward your chosen UDP port to the host machine and add a matching firewall rule.
  • Realms are saved under NWX\Saved\Offline\DedicatedServer\Deploy and characters under NWX\Saved\Offline. Back that folder up yourself on a schedule.
  • There is no server browser and no server-name setting: players join through their Steam friends list or by entering your IP and port under Join a Game → IP/LAN.
  • Worth knowing: the first player to connect to a fresh server imports their own realms. If you want a clean world, the first joiner should connect once with a new character.

Mods

  • Mods are not officially supported by Inflexion — there is no Steam Workshop and no mod loader for Nightingale.

Why Wait? Use SurvivalServers Instead

  • Instant provisioning on enterprise NVMe SSD hardware with DDoS protection across 8 global datacenters
  • Server password, admin password and starting difficulty managed through our custom Survival Servers control panel
  • Automated restarts, scheduled backups, and full FTP access on day one
  • We track new Nightingale dedicated-server releases and roll them out for you automatically
  • No SteamCMD wrangling, no port forwarding, no firewall rules, no Windows or Linux updates to babysit

Nightingale Dedicated Server vs In-Game Co-op

Nightingale servers support up to 6 players — a developer limit, not ours. Every plan runs your private co-op realm for you and your friends. You can absolutely play peer-to-peer co-op with a friend hosting, but then your estates and realms only exist while the host is online. A dedicated server keeps your Fae Realms running 24/7 so anyone in your group can step through a portal on their own schedule.

  • We run the official dedicated server from Inflexion Games — your realms live on datacenter hardware, not somebody's gaming PC
  • Password-protect the server for a private co-op world; Steam and Epic Games friends both connect
  • Persistent realms: your estate is exactly where you left it, whoever logs in first
  • Realm and character saves live under the server's NWX\Saved\Offline folder, downloadable any time over FTP

Nightingale Settings, Saves and Sizing

Configuration

The server is configured through ServerSettings.ini — connection password, admin password and starting difficulty — all editable from our control panel. The admin password unlocks in-game kick and ban, and an optional cheats toggle enables the debug menu for admins.

Saves

Realms and characters persist on the server, and the panel takes scheduled backups you can restore in one click. The server also snapshots its own save folder on first launch each weekday.

Sizing

Nightingale is a full Unreal Engine 5 server, so we run every instance on strong single-thread CPUs with NVMe storage and generous RAM headroom. With the 6-player cap there is no slot ladder to overthink: pick 4 or 6 slots to match your group.

Location

Pick the datacenter closest to your group — lower latency makes combat and realm hopping feel noticeably better.

Frequently Asked Questions about Nightingale Server Hosting

A Nightingale dedicated server supports up to 6 players — that cap is set by the developer, not by us, and running past it is unsupported by the game. Our plans map straight onto it: pick 4 or 6 slots for your private co-op realm.

No — Nightingale has no server-name setting and no public server browser. Friends join through their Steam friends list, or directly by entering your server's IP and port under Join a Game, along with your server password if you set one. Your control panel shows the address to share.

The first player to connect to a fresh Nightingale server imports their own realms into it. If you want a clean world, have the first player join once with a new character — after that everyone else can bring in whoever they like. This is the game's realm-import behavior, and knowing it up front saves a lot of confusion.

Yes. Steam and Epic Games players both connect to the same dedicated server, and characters are tied to each player's own Steam or Epic account. Nobody needs anything beyond their copy of the game and your server address.

Not officially. Inflexion Games does not support mods for Nightingale — there is no Steam Workshop integration and no mod loader — so there is no mod manager on this game. If official mod support ever arrives, we will add it to the panel.
