I recently ran into an issue where I lost a character when travelling into a new grid on my 3x3. I ended up with 2 different characters on my database that the game which swap me between each time I would travel between zones. 
 
After some reading and talking with Tallon, I figured the best way to deal with this was to wipe the database and start over. Then I started to think about why not connect to the database and try to edit it instead. I was able to successfully connect to my grid's database and edit it to resolve my issue. The below link is how I did that. 
 
DO NOT manipulate the database unless you know what you are doing, and I advise that you take copies before you do so. Also, you need to make sure that your server(s) are offline before doing this so nothing is writing to the database while you are working on it. 
 
I wanted to post this here because I couldn't find any reliable info on the redis database anywhere on the web really. Hope this helps someone out. If I find any additional database related info out, I will add it here.

This is the Discord group, May be an idea to join as they do have people in most areas of this... As for deleting it is the ONLY way to rmeove any issues as even recopying everything still keeps the Cache....

hey so i did get the fix to this theirs two fixs one takes a bit to implement but shouldnt run anything the second mean fresh wipe which i did because we wernt very far in the game. 
 
fix number 1 is to load the server grid into the editor hit the "delete" button on the island and replace it( DO NOT HIT THE REMOVE BUTTON ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT THIS REMOVES IT FROM THE MAP EDITOR PERMANENTLY) the issue is do to an old map image or something i dont realy understand it myself but it did work for me now as long as you havent built on the island it wont matter if the island is shited a bit from were it was before.
 
fix number 2 is to delete your game save file and start fresh this also removes the ghosting but is a fresh wipe

I used this guide along with some trial and error. I know a few others on here have been successful with creating custom maps as well. It isn't too hard, you just need to know a little about code and how to use FTP.

Also see this post, they reference the link above as well. I recommend downloading your current map and start with that as a template. That is what I did and it worked pretty well. We had no problems when uploading the new JSON and map files.

I edited the standard 2x2 grid that you get with 4 servers and we have a nice mix of islands currently. Still haven't figured out the Mythos stuff, but we are busy learning the islands and game. I am assuming a more friendly map editor will eventually make its way out. Maybe mods will help as well. It is possible to have a good mix with a 2x2, My only concern is taking up too much space with islands and have no place for real sailing on a 2x2.

Good to know. We'll add a checkbox at the bottom of our upcoming Modify Server Config tool to push the settings to all servers matching Atlas ID =)

You can also add your server to your steam servers list and connect from there.  It's how my crew does it.

We identified a bug in the way we edit the ServerGrid.json to populate some values. It has been fixed.
 
Game servers that are affected are being updated now.
 
You can use the Reset Template checkbox and then Save & Restart to fix it on your own.
