  1. Just wanted to add, I just finished going through the entire thread over on the ark forums where they posted those initial instructions on how to set it up and all that. Near the end people seemed to be speculating that just being part of a cluster automatically locked down your characters transfer, but not a single person actually tested and confirmed this, at least in the thread. If this is the case then great, but if any additional options or variables in the .ini's need to be set please list those as well in detail. I'd love to get a cluster going but even one person transferring in their cheaty mc'cheaterton character would ruin things.
  2. Ryan, the new perm solution, does it lock down the character transfer portions so you can only transfer between the two? I cannot seem to find this info anywhere as thats pretty much the most important part of it to me on if I can go that route soon for my players or not. There is no 'server whitelist' or equivalent that I can find so pretty much need a way to allow my players to transfer back and forth from the 2 servers in the cluster, but NOT allow transfers to the server from the outside. I want outside NEW players, but not outside max level max engram ppl who cheated in single player with admin abilities. Any chance you know how to whitelist like this? Maybe the NoTransferFromFiltering has something to do with this maybe? Man I wish the devs gave us better documentation and walkthroughs when they enable fairly complex new systems like this. Or at least get one of their guys who has proper technical document writing skills to do the walkthrough/guide so it isnt missing steps and half explained. lol.
  3. So since this last update broke the hell out of my primitive+ Center game, and rolling back didn't fix it, we are switching to scorched earth. I'm completely wiping. I moved everything in our savedark##### directory to a backup dir for now for later download, made a new empty one. Nuked the config files in the WindowsServer directory. Copied all the files from 'CleanSourceconfigs' into it. Selected scorched earth map drop down. This should work right? At least get my server up and running with the most basic of default configs running the map? It seems to be hanging. Since I ran primitive+ and all our config work was done via ftp, not the web interface, I can't just keep using my existing configs. Not sure what needs to be cut out, what needs to stay, what is specific to the new expansion, etc. Can you guys who have this working maybe post a quick and dirty of your steps? Were you able to just use the map selection drop down they just added in, and use the web interface configuration tool to build your configs, etc etc and it all worked?
  4. I'd also like to know how to get this to work with the new center map. My server was already running primitive+ and with the patch today even though it was up, you couldn't find or connect to it if your client version got updated. Trying to get my server back up and running and no bueno so far. Ced (complexminded) did say that the official servers had to be wiped becuse of the number of changes. Not sure if that applies to us as well, but something to keep in mind.
  5. they recently patched this so make sure your server is the latest version. THEN You have to run the admin command DestroyWildDinos To kill off all the stuff that has already overspawned. If you patched the server but did NOT do the wild dino kill then your entire world population is going to stay as it is until you manually kill them off, or they eat each other, but that will not happen since a lot of dino's ignore each other, especially in the sea. There is a command you can run to kill just a specific species of wild dino but I dont know it off hand. Check reddit as people have posted it there. If you find that, then you can kill off JUST the megaladons, ichkys, mantas, trilobites, anglers, euriptids, plesi's, mosa's....not sure if im forgetting one or not. Much easier to do a wilddino mass kill IMO.
  6. Dont forget you ALSO have to do a DestroyWildDino's command after you restart the server with that command. Or there is another command you can do where you kill just any spawned Gigas but I dont know it off the top of my head. If you search reddit in the ark subreddit I made some posts as have other people where someone gave us the exact commands.
  7. Some saddles have to be made in the smithy, especially a lot of late game ones. They will not show in your inventory, only in the smithy inventory. Also try checking the 'show all' checkbox at the top of your inventory screen, that might bring stuff up you were not finding or seeing before. Finally, if you know the name of a specific one, and you can see you learned it in your engrams screen, use the search box in your inventory screen to search for part of its name and see if it shows up then. If it does, something is goofy with your UI or you are just missing where it is. If it doesnt and you are SURE it isnt made in the smithy there might be something wrong with your actual game. I think when you have engrams disabled on a server they are not even learnable period, so you wouldnt even see them in your engram screen. Also, giving yourself xp to level is no different then leveling normally as far as the game is concerned, so it would not be related to that.
  8. How are you looking for it? I found after putting mine up that it does take a while for it to get index'd, but also the search box is reallllllllly funky with how it returns searches and stuff. You also have to let the ENTIRE list refresh in the game to the complete end before searching. It would be helpful if you posted exactly what your hostname string is, and maybe we will see something causing a problem like a funky character that doesnt display right in game, or at the very least assist in searching for it. This is what I have in my hostname field: Salas Clan -Newb friendly-Inc TameGather-Map When I first set up the server it wouldn't return on searches for "Salas" and such. It wasn't until I selected unofficial, then did a refresh and let the entiiiiirreeeeeeee list completely finish populating, then searched for 'sal' and that seemed to work. Hope that helps!
  9. I am using chrome, Both in the office and at home and it only lets me drag the height larger and smaller, the width is locked.
  10. Can you please increase the size of the custom launch parameters box? Or make it so it can resize left to right as well as top to bottom. With how the command line has to all be one big line, it makes it a real pain to be sure you didnt accidentally whitespace it somewhere or otherwise fubar a typing or paste job into it. In my browser it lets me resize it top to bottom but really the left to right would be far more beneficial.

  12. I'm having this exact same problem, and with only SOME of my users. I was able to connect as are a few other people for the last few hours no problem, but suddenly one guy just tries to get on and having this issue. He removed everything on his side and completely reinstalled the game, the DLC, still a problem. My game server id is 15248
  13. Yeah you *HAVE* to download the DLC from the steam store page, even if you played it before. Just had this issue on my server as well. We made our base in the middle big ruins around 70,50 and it was compleely missing when we loaded in, but we could walk where it was and our buildings were sitting on top of thin air..etc.
  14. Ryan did you guys somehow automate the custom launch change for people? I just stopped my server to go to make these changes and my custom launch line already looks different, and the map id is gone from the control panel page as well..   15. I want to make sure I'm understanding correctly. The only mod I run on my server here is The Center. Everything else is vanilla with just some speed ups on taming and stuff in the ini files. Anywho. the patch is either live now, or about to be. I should turn my sever OFF. Set the update stuff and save so it upgrades my server to 241. Once it has done so the ONLY thing I need to change is the command line option you stated there and start my server again? All my playerbase, their buildings, etc etc will all still be in place and functional? I know there is always a chance some minor terrain change may screw some building up or whatever, but for the most part, you are saying it should be smooth and work with just that one command line change. There is no other steps or anything on the file system side of things that will confuse the system or not read my save games correctly, etc?

  17. Since we had the auto restart checkbox thing happen, I'd like to suggest you add more options to that setting. I wouldnt mind being able to have my server auto restart every few days since ark does seem to have issues when its been running for a while (hopefully fixed this last patch, but who knows). Currently the longest is 24 hours and thats just a bit to often, especially since my user base has a really really wide range of play hours. It would be nice to have like a once a week and every 3 days sort of choice. I'd also like to suggest (again) that if any changes are being made that will cause our servers to stop or restart in any way, without our knowledge ahead of time that you notify us via a forum post, or email, or even a news section post.
  18. There is also a setting for the distance players must be away from a resource for it to respawn. This is, for example, to prevent someone from sitting next to a metal node, mining it out, then camping it until it respawns, and doing that over and over, or worse, macro scripting it so they can just afk mine that node for however many hours or days they want. This first one is specific to players in the example I used above, the second is the distance to regrow near structures, since placing structures down will cause resources also not to respawn.   19. It just seems like something this customer affecting should at least be emailed out, or posted more places. There was no news posting for it either and expecting every customer to monitor twitter to find out things directly affecting the service they pay for is a bit backwards for a company that has official forums and email form capabilities already setup. If this was some back-end change or perhaps an interface modification that didn't actually change or degrade my active service it probably wouldn't be such a big deal, but I found out after the fact when suddenly my users are telling me things are shutting down that I didn't do, and then find out my admin panel has options checked that I never checked, and since computers don't change their settings on their own led me down a nasty road of password changing and security searches thinking my server, or accounts, or worse, was compromised. I know you guys have a small staff and I've worked at a few companies doing similar things so I definitely understand how a quick fix for performance issues or whatever the reason was can seem simple and not need a big notification to your users, but it doesn't matter if it's just a 'game server' or an web service or whatever, it's still an unexpected outage of service which should be on the same level of importance as my billing, which sent me reminder emails every day for the last few days until it was due. You guys seem to be pretty active monitoring the forums so I don't see how it would be to much to ask that important outage changes like this be posted here for the many non-twitter people out there.

Here is a page with all the server options and short explanations of each: http://ark.gamepedia.com/Server_Configuration Most options you are going to want to change will be as simple as making a change in the control panels 'modify server config' button. Like taming speed for example: Find Taming Speed Multiplier listed in that config menu, change the number to a higher number and it will speed things up. Its a multiplier so changing it to a 3 will be 3 times faster taming. Some other options in there are a little strange how they implemented the math, like the speed of the day and night time is a little more complicated, but for what you need almost everything should be listed on that link.   21. How come this wasn't posted to the forums here about the change? I don't use twitter and ran into this auto restart config change earlier and it caused a lot of issues. I have since disabled it but for a while I was seriously concerned someone had gotten into my admin account since options were changing that I know were not set by me, etc. I came to the forum looking for something but didn't see anything. A better form of notification on something like this is really needed so I'm not scrambling around changing my passwords and freaking out
  22. I just switched my server over to the center and it was a bit confusing how you have to go about it. Use THESE instructions as they are written by someone who uses Survival Servers as their provider so they match exact: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/614734500/405694115207028783/ Make note to read the entire post before you start, as some of the examples he uses are HIS mods and HIS map ID's so you have to make sure to change those to match YOUR choice of mods and configuration. He mentions it in the post near the end since he wrote the post then realized it would confuse people and went back and edited it later.
  23. Thanks, that's what I ended up doing anyway. I did have some issue with finding instructions on it here that were not confusing. On the developers steam discussion group however someone made a post that had detailed setup instructions specifically for your service here and they were great! I'd highly suggest maybe making a sticky post with a link to them or something so if other customers here have questions or issues like I did they can easily find a walkthrough on installing The center.   24. Hi, My friends and I are discussing a possible full wipe and switch to the center map. I'm pretty sure I have a handle on how to go about installing it and running it here, but I haven't been able to find info on if I can just download the map to my server so its ready to go, then do the necessary custom launch parameters later when we are ready to do the actual switch. Is there a way I can pop in the steam ID for thecenter map to have it download to be waiting and ready to go, or do I have to do the entire setup and switch over to it all in one swoop.
  25. Make sure you select the drop down option to Update your server on the main control panel page, then save and restart server button at the bottom. The drop down you want is labled: Ark Update. It defaults to - only if needed -. You will want to change it to Yes, run update. Then at the bottom of the page hit the save and restart server button. If all went well your server version should say 239.2 or 239.3. Not sure if the .3 was server side or only client side, but either one will still have the cannon and chem table.
