Using a different random map seed

Hi All,

 

Has anyone figured out how to change the random seed and generate a new random map?  I've tried editing the server.config, but after restart, the game name (which is the random seed for the map generation) is always set to my server id.

Change the file when your server is stopped. If you make any changes to the file you will have to reupload them this same way any time you press the Save button as it will overwritee the config.

I verified that the file on the server was changed.  When I restart the server, it changes the game name back to my server id, 23830.  7 Days uses the game name as the seed for the random generator, so if we use the same seed, it will generate the same random map each time.

If you restart the server using the green button at the bottom of the control panel (as described in my last reply, the Save button) it will overwrite your serversettings.cfg file, otherwise it will not be overwritten ever.
