How can I find out what map seed my world is??

A friend of mine would like to use the seed that I am on since it has some fairly impressive scenic spots to build. But I can't seem to find out what seed my server is using. Is there a way to figure that out please??

Hi Juno.  You need to do the following.

• Stop your server
• FTP into your server, the FTP information is in your control panel. 
• In the main directory is a file that ends with .FWL, download it or open for edit
• You can copy the hex code and paste into a site like https://hexed.it/ which will show the seed as part of the string, or
• You can drop the FWL file into the seed extractor here -> http://valheim-map.world/getseed.html
• Close FTP and start your server back up

Here I go probably embarrassing myself again, but I can't get into the directory on mine.  I'm in the server through the command line, but I can't get the directory.  To quote Margin Call, "explain it to me as if I were a small child, or maybe a golden retriever".  I don't think I need that much simplicity, but I'm obviously not as capable as I thought.

Currently with a dedicated server there is no way to specify a server seed. If you want to use a custom seed you will want to go into single player and created your world with your desired seed, then following the upload instructions (which can be found on your control panel) upload the world to your server.

If you want to find out what your current server's seed is, you will want to download a copy of your world via FTP and place it into C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds then boot up your game and you will be able to see the seed from the single player world select menu.
