MetaMike 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2021 My players lost a lot of items during a scheduled server restart. The Control Panel says that the game will give everyone 4 discrete messages before restarting, but that did not occur. Plus, the server did not save before the restart so a few of my players that just offloaded their items into chests lost all of their items. I rescheduled the server update for a time where people are less likely to be online but I would like these other issues to be resolved so I can reassure my players that they won't randomly lose their hard-earned loot. ranalin 1 Report post Posted February 18, 2021 We're also running into this issue, and even setting up a new restart time isn't working.
MetaMike 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2021 I initially had that issue with setting up a restart schedule but I read the config window a little more closely and discovered that you have to click the "+Add" button on the right before you click Save, or else it won't take. It's not very intuitive but essentially you're adding times from the bottom half of the window to the schedule on the top. As for my issue, I've decided to just not schedule any restarts at all and do restarts manually. I added my Steam UID as an admin so I can follow this process if a restart is needed: 1.) Inform everyone playing on the server to halt what they're doing for a few moments while I save the world data and restart the server. 2.) Launch Valheim, log onto the server, hit F5 to bring up the console, type in "save" to force a world save. 3.) Restart the server from the Survival Servers Control panel.
