  1. I have found that if your game doesn't show up in game you can manually add it to favorites in steam and it shows up in game under the favorites filter.
Now some times in steam I have to add 1 to the port number to get it to return server info.
So if your ip info is 192.168.10.34:25250 and you add that to favorites but get on data back ( shows not responding ) if you change it to 192.168.10.34:25251 it will return the correct server info. This appears to be an issue with the way steam looks for servers and returns the data because it happens in other games (such as ARK) as well.

  2. When your server is running the game automatically does a save command at preset intervals or when you stop your server. These are located in your /saved folder as Game.db (for the most current one) Game_Backup_1.db Game_Backup_2.db and so on. I think it saves about 50 of these (not real sure and cant check at the moment ).
When you boot up your server it takes the Game.db and uses it to load your world.
What SS is talking about is they had a system that would make a copy of your /saved folder a couple times a day/
This came in handy if you had a corruption you could go preform a restore  from back up and go back to that time.
They have a problem with the system that makes those backups and for now if you want that extra security you should use FTP and go in and make a copy of the /saved folder on your own.

Make a little more sense ?

  3. Ah thanks, I see! This permission error is on your computer, not the server.

Are you running WinSCP as administrator? If not, that may fix it. If you already are, try saving the file in another place.

Good catch! I was helping someone the other day with WinSCP and they were just posting the error to me. If I had a screenie like that I might have caught it.

They just ended up using filezilla and had no problem.

  4. Well at least they are honoring and refunding people their money. Says alot about the company I will say I will stay with them after reading this

Yes I thank them for doing the correct thing. I would have stayed but i was down 50 plus hours and no reply to ticket i was a little upset.

  5. Up until now I haven't had any REAL issues with Survival Servers. I chalk this Conan Exiles debacle to part FunCom really not being experienced the apparently "new" trend in server hosting and Survival Servers apparent lack of dedicated physical boxes for Conan Exiles (especially if they are putting VMs for disparate games on the same physical host). I am a patient man. Survival Servers know there are other alternatives out there that host Conan Exiles. I know that they are working on a fix (or fixes). It would be good to have a pinned topic on this specific issue (what the background problem is, what the fix is and implementation plan) and an add-on of time equal to the time lost (just do a blanket extra 3 or 4 days). That would certainly satisfy me, and I'm sure quite a few other customers.

Communication is my big issue. been down over 40 hours and going on 50 hours on my ticket. Not a word to me. They have our money and really don't care if we are pissed off. If they did they would say something more than they are.

I would lot rather hear.. "Hey we though we could get 6 VMs on every machine but we can due to the High CPU usage of the new patch. We are now in the process of spinning up new VMs on more machines. This will only allow use to get about 60% of affected machines up and going. It will Tuesday or wednesday before new machines are installed and at that time we can get back to 100%. We will be happy to prorate your bill next month to compensate ot offer a refund if you wish to cancel your services."

What we currently have is ... " Conan fried our machines and we will be up when we are up."

  6. get filezilla
Input FTP info from your control panel (dont forget port is 21)

once connected you have 2 file browsers the left is your PC the right is your sever
open folders on the right till you see Saved
Right click and download it (it goes to the current folder on the left )

    Main thing you need is
    Game.db (your world)
You can also grab ServerSettings.ini (your config) if you dont want to have to set it on the new provider... but I would it can prevent a server loading if not correct. It was a major cause last week for loading issues because SS had bad code and formatting.

  7. Some people drink the coolaid that others try and sell them.

I have several Conan dedicated servers. One of them was hosted by Survival Servers. This server has been up for 6 hours stable during the last 4 days.

My other servers hosted by other companies which I will not name here, are perfect. Do not crash, have no issues, no CPU spikes. I also have tools that monitor CPU activity for my other servers and I really do not see anything abnormal.

The issue is, other companies actually if you notice when you go to purchase a server, they will say, not available. Because they leave overhead of 20% so that their current customers are not impacted. Some companies will easily over commit and over deploy even though they really should not. They say things like, the customer deals with lag here and there its ok.

Survival Servers really has the wrong model and bad administration practices which lead to an entire breakdown of their service. They are one of the cheapest providers, I got a 60 slot server for 37$ a month, that is basically cheaper then all of the industry. Good thing about being cheap is, you get a lot of people requesting servers, the bad part is, you do not have the infrastructure to actually deal with the increased demand and overhead. And it takes days and even weeks to climb out of a provisioning hole, I know. I manage virtual infrastructure at a very large company.

Now take Conan Exiles, non-optimized alpha code, this requires even more resources, throw those servers on the same hosts with other servers like Ark, and now you have a real big problem, one service is affecting another service.

Reality is; Survival Servers is NOT fixing any bug with the Conan Exiles game or with their servers, maybe their custom management software needs a fix, but overall, they are ordering and provisioning new virtual hosts so they can deal with the expanded load, while doing damage control to keep whatever customers they have.

I think the estimated time Wednesday is the day they hope to have some new hosts online to balance out the load.

Another thing happened, they started throwing servers on the same IP space, this brought up a new Funcom Conan bug, with servers sharing the same IP space that had to be fixed. My other servers have dedicated IP, when I query my survival server, 4 other servers show up using my same IP space. This actually prevents you using DNS to your own server for short names.

My Survival Server has been in stopped state for 2 days. Nothing wrong with it. FTP data looks very normal. The ONLY reasons its not able to be started is because it is admin locked. If they start my server which is a 60 slot server, they feel it will crash the host, this is due to the fact that they overcommitted my host.

    ^^^

Been screaming this for 2 days... Just not as nicely put.

  8. What is UGGG?

I have had to restart my server every 2 hours since I got it due to it crashing. Initially I took this because I thought well it is alpha Funcom needs to put out a patch to make their game run stable but the  reality is Survival Servers was providing garbage to it's customers. At this time I have chatted with probably 100 customers of other hosting companies and not one is having the issues we have had here. Survival Servers have screwed their customers providing non working servers and in my opinion all of us are owed a refund. I don't care all that much. The cost I paid for the server was less than I pay for some Blueray movies so it is not going to keep me up at night. I have just cancelled my reoccurring without asking for a refund but I certainly think I would be well within the category of deserving a refund for poor performance and poor customer service. So I ask you Benny what is Ugggg

I think he meant that as uggg that doesnt look good for SS. But I am not Benny or psychic (maybe a little psychotic) so i could be wrong.

  9. Agreed.

I just dont understand why people are so hell bent about it. I get your point of some things not adding up.

I fully respect your point of views and the knowledge you provide to the community. The only thing that irks me are people that just come out of the blue and assume they know whats going on as most people dont actually try to understand before posting random remarks. You not being one of that people of course.

It make me happy two people that disagree on some things on a subject can actually have a normal conversation without saying "Stop sucking SS dick".

    Right.

I run (network and systems admin) a small (87 device 350 vm) server farm for my company.

I understand how these things work and the logistics in running them. We do not have near the user base that someone like SS would have but I promise you if I had a server down for more than 4 hours I would lose my job right then. You always have a back up plan. You always have spare hardware that you can spin up new VMs on. I know for a fact my VM is not down because I have be able to access my FTP without interruption.

No doubt this will cost them some users and some refunds. It wont be the death of SS. But hopefully if they look at these and see that people are upset and do not believe what we are being told then they will decide in the future to be more honest and open with the communication.

I would lot rather hear.. "Hey we though we could get 6 VMs on every machine but we can due to the High CPU usage of the new patch. We are now in the process of spinning up new VMs on more machines. This will only allow use to get about 60% of affected machines up and going. 10. This is from one of the Conan Exiles Devs...

We are in the process of finding new partners with the ideal hardware we can move the existing game databases to. However, due to the high demand for Conan Exiles servers, many hosting companies are simply out of the hardware that we need and as such this process might take a few days.

Yes granted SS has probably had more issues than others. ALL games work differently with different types of hardware and software. Even PingPerfect had issues consistently with supporting Conan Exiles. Therefore Conan Exiles dropped them. I wonder why... They didnt have the IDEAL HARDWARE to support the game..

Yes they are looking for an ideal hardware provider.  They are setting up 200 server to run 70 players each They need a very robust setup for that. They are the Developers and they want the official servers to get priority in resources and maintenance. They need to be able to have 14,000 people connect at once. This is a lot different than SS needing to setup 200 servers with an average of 5 people per server.

I do believe that there may be a leak that causes the CPU to become overworked in the server software. This is not unusual in early development of server side software. I do believe that it could have caused issues with SS servers. Crash them out though? These problems started BEFORE said patch was released. I myself spend most of the day Friday trouble shooting problems. On these servers. Several times I informed people SS what I found and they fixed them. Then another problem would pop up. Every single time it was something with SS software and how it interfaced with the server.

Saturday a new problem popped up and I decided to totally delete the game folder, download the server software and then upload it by FTP I set all configs via FTP. My machine worked flawlessly until they started taking machines down yesterday morning.

I also took the complete game from here and imported it to other providers and guess what... It is working fine.

I personally feel that until I am refunded I am entitled to be here and bitch about this every second of every day. until my server comes back online and preforms as well as other machines that I have in my possession or have rented, and I plan to do this until that time.

Until people are refunded they are still a customer and still deserve the same level of service that others get. They also have just as much right to complain and others have to praise. There will always be haters and there will always be fanbois.

This is a perfect example of "if you dont like what is on TV change the damn channel and let me watch what I want to."

  11. Its not their fault.

Conan Exiles launched a update that caused some CPU leaks which crashed all of the machines , including those for other games.

I`m renting a ARK server with them, and that one is down too because of Conan Exiles ( Which I currently hate the most  because well who the fuck launches a update that causes CPU leaks ).

They're trying to get all the machines back up, but its a long process while they are still figuring things out.

    I call BS.

Other providers are not having these issues.

The problem is they oversold and crammed machine that were already full with more VMs and add Conan to the stress on the physical machine.

Host Havoc is not having these problems

Nfo is not having these problems

Gameservers is not having these problems.

Now granted they may be having ping or lag issues but the servers run and they have not been down up to 75% of the time since launch.

99% of SS issues are with SS control panel software and overloaded hardware.

Hell SS rents these servers they do not even have to ability to lay their hands on the physical machines.
