  1. Well, on your CPanel you have FTP Details. Download an FTP client, like Core FTP Lite, to access your server files via FTP. Then you have to download the Server files and unpack them from the link in my previous post. Then drag the new files to overwrite the old files using the FTP. If this seems complicated, you should submit a support ticket to Survival Servers and ask them to update your server to 1.8.4.1. Good luck!

Or, you can try to manually update your server to 1.8.4.1 by uploading the newest dayz_server.pbo and client files from the Server Files: download here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/220556-dayz-mod-hotfix-1841/ to your @DayZ directory using FTP as well as the new key in the Keys directory, that should update you. I did it yesterday and it worked for me. This is really the only way to go because most everyone updates their client through steam and the steam update is 1.8.4.1. Nobody with an updated client will be able to join your 1.8.4 server. Besides, I'm not sure you can roll back to 1.8.4 on DayZ Launcher anymore anyway. Good luck!
  3. Nice. This should be pinned for all fresh server admins. Wish I had this when I was a fresh noob. I had to dig around on the internet for hours and used a PBO utility that didn't work before I figured out PBO Manager was the one to use. I'm still a noob but at least I know how to unpack, pack and upload my PBOs now!
  4. Okay, so I was able to figure out how to install the 1.8.4 version of the Vanilla Chernarus map but apparently there is some version confusion going on here. The Survival Servers version is 1.8.4 but the latest version of the map is 1.8.4.1. Apparently there is a huge difference when it comes to joining my server. When I changed my server to 1.8.4, I was still unable to join even after my game was updated by Steam. But I had to download and install DayZ Launcher in order to change my version of DayZ to 1.8.4. Then I was able to join. I think this is because Steam installed the latest version as 1.8.4.1 and when I was trying to join my 1.8.4 server it was telling me I had the wrong version of the game and to reinstall. I used to use DayZ Commander to roll back versions if needed, but that program isn't updated with 1.8.4 or 1.8.4.1 versions. Also, DayZ Launcher updated recently and no longer supports a rollback to 1.8.4, only an install of 1.8.4.1. It says my current 1.8.4 installation is corrupt. I can still join my server because my game version is 1.8.4 (installed before DayZ Launcher updated to 1.8.4.1). However, when I try to join servers that have been updated to 1.8.4.1, it tells me I have the wrong version of the game and to reinstall. The point of all of this is that I'm pretty sure Survival Servers needs to update the Chernarus map version to 1.8.4.1 so that people who just update their game automatically using Steam will be able to join. Otherwise, it's a major hassle (maybe impossible now) trying to make the game version 1.8.4 to be compatible with the Survival Server version. No one has played on my server in days, which is pretty hard evidence that there is a big problem here. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks! Vladick
  5. Hey there, I am running DayZ 1.8.3 and, as many of you know, it took some doing for Survival Servers to support this version of the mod. This said, I see that they have come out with an 1.8.4 update. My players are asking when they can update their clients to support the new changes and I am telling them that I will update the server when 1.8.4 is supported by Survival Servers. Anyone know this version will be supported? I need to let my players know when they can update their clients to 1.8.4? Many of them have already done this automatically via Steam and now they are having to roll their versions back to 1.8.3 via Steam to play on my server. This adds another barrier between my server and DayZ Vanilla players. Thanks! Vladick
  6. Hey Steven, I've been told that this line in the init.sqf in the Mission file needs to be set to 0 or it conflicts with InfiStar. Ryan said he is not 100 percent certain this is the cause of my issues but it's a good place to start. Since I made this change, the server seems to be having less issues and the lag isn't as bad as it was. Anyway, thought I would mention it in case it helps someone else. dayz_REsec = 1; // DayZ RE Security / 1 = enabled // 0 = disabled This needs to be 0 for infiSTAR to function properly, they conflict with eachother.   8. Okay, so the Infistar Antihack is now working on my server. SS had to wait for a file update from Infistar before it would work on Chernarus 1.8.3. But even after I was told it would now work, I couldn't for the life of me install the antihack without the server getting hung up when players joined. Peter said it had to do with problems related to BattlEye and he installed it for me and got it working. Now I have a way to provide admin support on my server. The installation has increased the lag substantially for some reason and there are a few other little issues also. I will be submitting tickets for them once I understand it more. But I am still terrified to make any changes fearing catastrophic failure resulting in a server wipe. Hope this helps someone. Vladick

  10. Hey All, I'm running DayZ Chernarus 1.8.3 (Vanilla) and I've noticed something very disturbing that occurs randomly. Occasionally, following a scheduled restart, all of the vehicles, stashes and tents that were previously in the map do not spawn in. The players have all of their gear, but everything else on the map that should spawn back in is gone. This has happened four or five times in the past month that I know of and probably several other times that I don't know about. When it happens and I'm online, I can just restart the server manually in the cpanel with the green bar and everything returns. But when I am not online and this happens, players have to wait another four hours for the next scheduled restart and hopefully that fixes it. This has happened several times and players have complained to me about how frustrating it is that they are out driving around in their vehicle, a scheduled restart occurs, and their vehicle is then gone. Probably several players have logged and not returned already. Everything seems to work fine after a manual restart so I'm wondering if there is a problem with the scheduled restarts not loading the database or something. This happened on another server I used to play on. I think it was also hosted by Survival Servers. One day everything just stopped spawning in on restart and you would have to check back in after the next one. Very frustrating! Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be causing this to happen? I have submitted a support ticket to SS and sure would like to get this issue resolved as it is a very large problem in the eyes of my players. Thanks for any information you might have, Vladick

  12. So, SS now supports 1.8.3 so getting 1.8.2 to work is moot, but I wanted to put this out there just in case it helps someone else. It took a little trial and error to get my server up after trying to change maps from Epoch to Vanilla 1.8.3. The problems were caused by the fact that the Antihack is not yet supported by SS for 1.8.3, and by the BattlEye option on the cpanel. What I had to do was uncheck the Antihack (I now have no way to admin my server. A player asked for help yesterday and I was just liek, "Sorry man, I am the lamest admin on the planet." So disabling that was half the battle. The other half was disabling the BattlEye option and then reenabling it, because you gotta have BattlEye. The problem occurred because it was already enabled for the Epoch map and apparently you can't just change maps and expect options to configure themselves. Thus, I had to do the following: Unselect the BattEye option Change the server mod version to something other than DayZ 1.8.3 Restart Change the server mod version back to DayZ 1.8.3 Restart Reselct the BattlEye option Restart That did the trick. Now my Vanilla 1.8.3 server is up and fully functional! Course, that wiped the database, I don't have any admin powers, and I'm terrified to make any changes. I guess it wouldn't be Vanilla if it was easy. Thanks and good luck, Vladick

But when it is enabled on my server noone can log in.   16. Thanks very much Steven! I also submitted a trouble ticket when I was having this issue and Peter replied that right now the AH doesn't work with 1.8.3. That was all the information about it I got. I don't know if that means they are working on it right now or what, but it would so nice to be able to use the Infistar AH with DayZ 1.8.3 as I did with Epoch, especially since I paid for it! Now it gets stuck loading the mission file. Also, the server never restarted automatically. I had to click the green Update Settings and Restart Game Server bar at the bottom of the screen. I tried unchecking the Antihack in the cpanel and restarting but it is still getting stuck on loading the mission file. Can anyone advise me on the correct configuration for DayZ 1.8.3.   22. So I'd like to reiterate that this issue is not resolved. I have been told that Survival Servers does not support DayZ 1.8.3. That's fine. I would like my server to be DayZ 1.8.2 then. But when I switch it over to that it still doesn't work, with the same issues. Also, in the game servers list, my server status is stuck at Creating. I have noticed other Survival Servers DayZ 1.8.2 servers in the game servers list that are also stuck on Creating. I have tried to join those also without success and they also get stuck loading the mission file. However, there are other Survival Servers DayZ 1.8.2 servers that do work, so that tells me it is at least possible and that something is not right with my server. I've sent a trouble ticket and received a response saying that they don't support 1.8.3. That's fine but I need help to make it 1.8.2 if that's possible. But I am concerned about the lack of response from SS I am getting on this issue. It's been a week now and I feel that I may be being ignored because there isn't a solution. If there isn't, that would be good to know too so that I can revert my server back to Epoch or find another hosting company. If there is a solution, it would be nice to get some help from tech support. My server is just sitting there useless right now and I have no idea why it doesn't work. I need help. Thanks! Vladick

  24. So apparently SS does not support DayZ v1.8.3 yet. So one of the tech support guys changed my server to 1.8.2. Great, except I still can't join it, despite the fact I downgraded my game to 1.8.2 (done this several times before). The server shows up in the game server list and when I try to join it gets hung on loading the Mission file (the mission file is larger than it was before) and then it times out and returns a Lost Connection error message. After that, the server does not show up in the game server list as the status of the server changes to Stopped in the Cpanel. I still need help with this... One thing that is strange is that the server shows up on DayZ Commander with the wrong information. It displays my old DayZ Epoch information and the 1.8.2 information does not show up at all (not sure if any of that matters). Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Vladick
