Town NPC/Vendors not spawning

I'm having an issue with the towns vendors and NPCs not spawning in on restarts.

 

Ive seen the threads on summoning them "manually"

Ive also server hopped a few different servers and seen them all where they are supposed to be.

Anyone have a fix for this? As I dont recall where all the vendors should be, and I won't be able to summon them up on the days at work.

use admincheat ghost and see if they've actually spawned in a way that sent them under the world.

I don't know if an admincheat kill / destroymytarget will allow them to attempt to respawn properly afterwards though, but that's something else you could test.

I had this happen to me in my single player game I was recording for a YouTube LP session, and so many of them had done so I decided it best to just scrap the episode and try again later lol.

For me, spawning in the dwarf city, I had to go not only under the floor for the weapon vendor, but even below that and found the guy down below the town proper on the mountain below the city lol.

I think it was the apothecary that had the top of their hair sticking through the floor of their building, and others were just plain missing but I didn't take the time to ghost through to find them. Either way, it was indeed a bit annoying.

I had a chuckle looking into this. Some people have been reporting other players 'kidnapping' the NPCs and hiding them somewhere.  :mrgreen: 

 

Have you tried an update/validation? I'm curious if a temp map wipe would respawn them.

Lol. Oh, I'm sure most of us know that players can't "kidnap" NPC's, so unless they were just being cheeky in their reports, then you can have a little chuckle at their expense freely. =)

Ahh, I gotcha.

 

I do think that there should be protections for NPC's similar to how you can't pick up an Elite mob with a flyer currently.

 

I suppose I shouldn't have assumed that this was already in place. It'll likely be patched out though I'm sure, as it does break things a bit since they don't despawn just by being in the wrong place. I'm sure for PvP, it's entirely reasonable for a faction to attack an opposing city, but carrying their merchants off is just griefing imho.

 

PS: feel free to have a chuckle at my expense. =)

Seems I tried an update/validate. I'll give it a shot again.

Nobody on the server has made off with all 3 cities traders.

It's not necessarily game-breaking.

I modified the XP rates and such, I doubt it would have that effect, but you never know. I'll go vanilla and see if that changes anything as well.

The most recent patch is supposed to fix the NPC respawns so if they've died for whatever reason then they aren't properly respawning now. However, with the recent patch notes posted today this should be fixed soon.

Thanks for the update @bdcox42!

 

Taking a quick look at patch notes from today:

 

 

NPC Guards were occasionally spawning with only 1 HP. Not anymore! Also, NPC Vendors that have been killed will respawn in their set location within the city after a set period of time.

Still none spawning on my server. I need my guards back, so the meteors that fall in the middle of the town and spawn Reapers don't kill the NPC vendors and all my lv.2 players. Lol, it's going to be a long winter. 

Spawning NPCs is working out great though, time-consuming, but it works for now. 
The "Cheat Killallenemies" command will wipe every wild and tamed creature/NPC on the server, just an fyi.
This command is very useful when trying to lower the general amount of creature spawns over the whole map.

As the patch should have addressed the NPC spawning issues, I wonder if a settings change could be breaking things for you.

Could you list any specific settings changes you've made to your .ini files? Don't need a complete list, just the ones you have modified.

 

Winter is coming...

 

PS: to clarify, I am not a tech for SS, but can be pretty crafty at times. All issues should still be sent via ticket system to the Support team.

Yep, that patch should have taken care of this. Not sure on how long the set period of time mentioned in the patch notes actually is however.

From what I've been reading over on Steam forums and here, this is still a pretty big bug. No fix, at least not until Devs take care of it.
