?OverrideOfficialDifficulty=5.0 Please Help me Understand

Hello Everyone, I need some help with a server.

My friend and I have been trying to get the SE server he purchased to have wild dinos with a max level of 150 and to that effect I have read 10 pages worth of proffered solutions that don't seem to be working for us.

Can someone help by giving a step by step of how we are supposed to follow these instructions to create the desired effect?

I have found several answers by Rawblin and I must be messing up the steps he posted because It still isn't working for our server.

"First, make sure you have [server Settings] in your GameUserSettings.ini file.
Then underneath that either create or change DifficultyOffset=1.000000 to 5.000000 or whatever you wish.
Then underneath that either create or change OverrideOfficialDifficulty=5.0 or whatever you wish.

Save the .ini, send it to the server via FTP, then restart the server. Once the server is running again, you can either wait for dinos to be killed and the new spawns will be the proper level variance, or you can wipe all dinos on the server (which usually crashes mine so be prepared) with "admincheat destroywilddinos", no quotes, in the console."

So here are my questions.

1) Is the GameUserSetting.ini file the text file in my files? (If so we do have that there)

2) What is FTP?

We have tried a lot of things and when we wipe dinos we still get lowbies.

We found the FTP and the GameUserSetting.ini but when we add the Override line it does not show up in the .ini (and we have edited it with the parameters already on the .ini

Thanks for your help

This is a straight copy of my current GameUserSettings.ini file. This file should be located in /ShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsServer on your server when you view it using an FTP program. Not to be confused with the Game.ini file. I can confirm that the dinos are up to level 150 on my server with these settings. Please note, a 150 dino is very rare! But you can confirm the setting is working by seeing dinos with levels that are a multiple of 5. (5,10,15,20,25,etc) If difficulty level is still 4, and the settings have not worked for you, you will see levels that are multiples of 4. (4,8,12,16,20,etc)

I hope seeing this helps! I have highlighted the two pieces affecting dino level in blue. The order they are in shouldn't really matter, as long as both are under this server settings header.

In your modify server config, Make sure to keep your difficultyoffset to 1, then down at the gameusersettings.ini box, add what is said above but make sure to put [serverSettings] above it so it will read into the actual file because if you look at your gameusersettings.ini file, the first thing at the top is [serverSettings] which controls... well, the server settings lol. Without it, the line or command that you put will end up attaching to the bottom of your [MessageOfTheDay] variable so it won't work. Here's a SS of what I put and it worked perfectly. I also may add that I was trying to put the ShowFloatingDamageText=True by itself before without the [serverSettings] and it would not show up no matter what I did. But when I added it under there, it worked! Hope this helps!
