TheCenter - Drop down Selection vs Launch Parameters

Recommended Posts

Good day all

New Ark server admin here, ran others decades ago, so I have a idea of what I'm doing but not much.  I did search for this before posting, but I did not see the question asked so...

I've loaded my Server with TheCenter using the Launch Parameters:

/Game/Mods/TheCenter/TheCenter?Multihome=XXXX?Port=XXX?QueryPort=XXXX?SessionName=XXXX?MaxPlayers=20?listen?ServerPassword=?ServerAdminPassword=XXXXX?AllowThirdPersonPlayer=true?AltSaveDirectoryName=XXXXX?RCONEnabled=True?RCONPort=XXXX?ServerAdminPassword=XXXX

Now that a drop down menu option is enabled.  Should I be using that instead? If I do, will it wipe the server's progress like if you swap maps?  Further, will it give any benefits or corrupt the server?

Right now the SS CP shows us running a Custom Map with Ark Version ??? which is ok I guess, but I want our users to know we're up to date and they don't have fear of joining a questionable server.

Thanks for any help

  • 2 weeks later...

Switching to the drop down won't wipe at all.

If the ARK Version shows as ??? and the server is started (not loading) then you have too long of a hostname.

Running a standard TheISland Map.

Switched to custom map and added TheIsland startup parameters provided so I could add OverideStructurePlatformPrevention=true and it DID wipe.
