Restore server save

My friend on the server got his progress reset at level 28 back down to level zero, I am pretty sure if I restore a server save it would correct the issue. Every time I click the file I want restored it loads for a while and acts as if it went through, but when I get back on the server it has not gone to the backup. What to do?
