TakenRP is not your normal DayZ roleplay server.

There's no zombie apocalypse, or world-ending event that has decimated civilization. Everything is fine in the rest of the world, and as far as your characters would be aware, history is 1:1 to real life. Our in-character universe is based on our out-of-character one, and your backstory needs to reflect this. 

Common tropes to avoid are:
- Zombies. You've never seen or interacted with them before, outside of movies and TV shows.
- Chernarus and Livonia, they don't exist as far as you're aware. Just say you're from America, or the UK, or Australia, or Germany, etc. I know there's references to them on the island, but YOU would never have heard of them.
- Anything from GTA, ARK, or other fictional media. You're not from Los Santos, Liberty City, or San Andreas; just say Los Angeles, New York, etc.

All characters created should be from the present day, and not an alternate reality or parallel universe.

You will encounter other lore characters that may not follow these conventions, but there are extremely strict rules regarding temporal mechanics, and the lore follows a specific physics model. While we'd love to allow freedom of storytelling that includes these aspects, we can't tell you about these rules without ruining a significant amount of story, and any contradictions or evidence from outside storytelling which goes against these rules would undermine significant amounts of lore.

You're free to claim anything you want in character regarding your origin, but we can and will sabotage such claims by - for example - releasing your character's Mental Health Records that state clearly that you're insane.
