Transferring Items From Maps

I'm trying to figure out how to transfer items/dinos from one map to another. All I've been able to find is some information on "cluster servers" but don't really understand how it works. Can I do it with just the one server I rent? Or do I need to rent an additional server bringing my rented server total to 2? And if that is the case how do I transfer stuff? And if I were to rent an additional server, am I able to transfer the save game files from one rented server to the other?
